Ömer Faruk Şengil, a police sergeant at the Kyrenia Forensic Branch, on Friday, 19 August at 03.30, from an unapproved port in the north of Akdeniz village, with two zodiac-type proboscis boats, he said that 54 Syrian persons, 39 of whom are adult males, 4 adult women, and 11 children aged 3 to 13 entered the TRNC without permission.
Şengil stated that 32 refugees were detected and arrested in the forest area at the aforementioned location at around 12:30 on the same date, and that 22 of them were detected and arrested in the same vicinity on August 20, 2022.
Şengil stated that it was determined that the Van vehicle, which was abandoned at the location where the subject boats were located belonged to İsmail Dağcı.
The police announced that Onur Güren took the captain and his assistants, who were on the boats, from the scene and left.
The police stated that Hazar Söyler voluntarily gave a statement and confessed to his crime, stating that they were identified in the market that Cemal Bozalan did not operate and that they were taken to the Çamlıbel police station.
Explaining that while Cemal Bozalan was at the scene, Onur Güren had called him and had given him information. The police said that Güren, together with Edip Yeşilyurt, the boat captain and his assistants, had settled in their residence at the address in Nicosia which belonged to Oktay Dağcıl, the father of İsmail Dağcıl.
Stating that Onur Güren and Edip Yeşilyurt were detected in the vehicle with license plate SY 057, the police noted that Güren’s subordinate search found a Toyota brand saloon car and a house key.
Şengil stated that Kaan Kızılaya and Enver Uslu were found hiding in the living room, while Yakup and Vedat Ardes were hiding in the kitchen.
The police stated that Ahmet Danact, a resident of Famagusta, was also arrested and noted that the matter is a serious crime, which falls within the scope of the High Criminal Court and envisages imprisonment of up to 10 years, and demanded that the suspects be secured.
The court ordered İsmail Dağcıl, Onur Güren and Hazar Söyler to deposit 35 thousand TL as collateral in cash, and for each of them 2 guarantors to sign 200 thousand TL each.
The court ordered Ahmet Danacı to deposit 40 thousand TL and Edip Yeşilyurt to deposit 50 thousand TL as collateral, and 2 guarantors for each to sign 200 thousand TL.
The court ordered Birtan Kahramanoğlu to sign a bond of 25 thousand TL in cash and a surety of 150 thousand TL.
Mustafa Çelen, Enver Uslu, Vedat Kardeş, Kaan Kızılkaya and Yakup Aydemir were sent to prison for a period not exceeding 75 days.
