GAU American Future College teachers, parents and staff, operating on the Nicosia-Guzelyurt Highway, experienced the shock of ‘the school is closing’ today.

GAU American Future College in Nicosia Alaykรถy came to the agenda to be closed, the school CEO said that the building would be moved to Girne.

It has been announced that GAU American Future College, which continues its education activities at the kindergarten, secondary and high school levels in Alaykรถy, Nicosia, within the body of Girne American University, will be merged with the educational institution in Girne.

Some school staff and families reacted to this situation and stated that they would take the issue to the Ministry of Education.

According to YENฤฐDรœZEN, GAU CEO Assoc. Dr. Hรผda Hรผdaverdi said, “We are not closing the school, we are moving it.”

Responding to the allegations that the school will move its academy from Alaykรถy to Kyrenia on the grounds of ‘too low student enrollment in the new academic year’, Hรผdaverdi commented, “Of course, this is an important factor, too.”

Expressing that they decided to move the building in Alaykรถy to Girne. Hรผdaverdi said, โ€œWe will use the existing space with new projects. We’re not laying anyone off.”

Hรผdaverdi, who also evaluated the discomfort of some employees, touched upon the events as follows:

โ€œWe held a meeting in the morning. We are moving the existing structure to Kyrenia as we will use the building in new development programs by undertaking the transportation of children and employees free of charge.

We do not demand the price difference between schools, we transfer to Girne. We will use the existing space with new projects.

We won’t close the school, we move it. If there is a parent who refuses to go to Kyrenia, we are ready to refund the money.

I didn’t leave anyone unemployed, we just moved the school. Some employees complained it was also noted that the incident, which took place a few days before the opening of the schools, disturbed both parents and employees, and that the issue was brought to the Ministry of Education.

There was no official statement from the Ministry of Education on the subject.
