Enver Öztürk, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, stated that by creating an ‘online system’ that will direct cash collection transactions directly to the Revenue and Tax Office, the problem of personnel shortage will be solved and said, “There will be no problems in the Driver’s License Unit next week.”
Last week, 4 public unions went on strike on the grounds that the lack of personnel in the Nicosia Traffic Department Licenses Unit was not eliminated.
KAMU-SEN STATED THAT THE MINISTRY OF TRANSPORTATION SHOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM
The President of the Cyprus Turkish Public Servants Union (KAMU-SEN) Metin Atan said that the Ministry of Public Works and Transport should solve the grievances of the people after the strike of the personnel.
Enver Öztürk, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, made special statements to the Cyprus Post on the subject.
ÖZTÜRK: BEFORE THE PROCESS WAS DONE DESPITE THE LACK OF STAFF
Öztürk stated that despite the lack of personnel in Nicosia Traffic Department Licenses Unit, action was taken before and said, “This practice has been going on for a long time.”
Öztürk said that there was a strike process because there was a lack of ’employee who can collect cash registers’ at the cashier of the unit.
Noting that the lack of personnel has been a problem for years, Öztürk said, “The unit does not have enough personnel. This congestion coincided with the period when YDP was a ministry,” he said.
“ONLINE SYSTEM WILL BE ESTABLISHED FOR CASH COLLECTION PROCESS”
Öztürk stated that they are working to create an ‘online system’ that will direct the cash collection process directly to the Revenue and Tax Office.
Saying that they plan to complete the works in 1-2 days, Öztürk said, “We are trying to completely eliminate the problem. Since there will be no need for personnel after the transition to the online system, the problem of personnel shortage will also be solved.
“WE ARE WORKING FOR THIRD COUNTRY CITIZENS TO GET LICENSE WITHOUT EXAM”
Öztürk stated that they will implement legal regulations so that third country citizens who have a driver’s license in their own country can drive in the TRNC ‘without an exam’.
Expressing that they will reduce the intensity of driving license requests, Öztürk said, “There will be no problem in the Driver’s License Unit next week.”
