Zorlu Töre, Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic, said that after many pain and tears that Turkish Cypriots have experienced, their greatest security is their motherland Turkey.
According to the information given by the parliament, President Töre made contacts in Rize, in Turkey, where he went on invitation.
Töre, who participated in the event organized by Külünkoğlu Education and Culture Association, made a speech here.
Expressing that they are honored to be a member of the Turkish nation in his speech, he stated that the Turkish Cypriot people have experienced many pains and migrations in the past, gave martyrs and resisted, and that they expect the motherland to come during these processes.
Töre said that the Peace Operation carried out by the heroic Turkish army on the morning of July 20 in 1974 symbolized the rebirth of the Turkish Cypriots.
Töre, who stated that the greatest security of the Turkish Cypriots is their motherland, stated that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will continue to exist as a national state forever.
Criticizing the attitudes of the United Nations and the European Union on the Cyprus issue in his speech, President Töre remembered the statement of Turkish President Erdoğan that “the world is bigger than five” and noted that the accuracy of this statement is being understood better with each passing day.
Töre said, “Our star and crescent flag will continue to fly in the skies of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus forever.”
A VISIT TO THE GOVERNOR OF RIZE
Töre visited Rize Governor Kemal Ceber in his office as part of his contacts.
Welcomed by Governor Ceber, Deputy Governors and the directors of the institution at the entrance of the protocol to the Governor’s Office, Parliament Speaker Töre signed the Governor’s Honor Book in memory of the day.
Governor Ceber gave information to the Speaker of the Assembly, Töre, about the historical, geographical, cultural and economic structure of Rize.
Expressing that he likes Rize very much, Töre expressed that he is happy to be in Rize.
VISIT TO THE MAYOR OF RIZE
Töre also visited Rize Mayor Rahmi Metin as part of his contacts.
President Töre, who was welcomed at the Rize Municipality building, was given information about the municipality’s work, while Mayor Rahmi Metin talked about the cooperation between the Union of Turkish Municipalities and the Union of Turkish Cypriot Municipalities.
During his visit, President Töre was presented with the Çaykur Rizespor jersey with the plate number of Rize “53” written on its back.
President of the Assembly of the Republic Zorlu Töre also visited Muradiye Municipality of Rize Center and met with Mayor Musa Süreyya Balcı.
During his contacts in Rize, President Töre made statements to many press organs, especially national news agencies, about the Cyprus problem and the developments in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Töre, who completed his contacts with Rize, is returning to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus today.
