The suspects, who were found to have brought people to the TRNC with the promise of taking them from Bangladesh to Europe in exchange for money, will be detained for 3 days as part of the ‘human smuggling’ investigation.

Sayyed Ahmed and Abdullah Almamun, who were wanted after Saidul Islam and Johrul Islam, the suspects arrested for the crimes of “Secret Alliance to Commit a Serious Crime” and “Violating the Military Forbidden Zone in the First Degree” were arrested and brought before the court yesterday morning.

Police officer Aykut ร–zkan, who gave sworn testimony in the court, reported the facts. Police said the suspects were charged with violating the Secret Alliance to Commit a Serious Crime and the First-degree military exclusion zone.

As a result of the investigations carried out regarding the crime of violation of the 1st Degree Military Forbidden Zone, which occurred in Nicosia on 6 August, the police found the suspects, Abdul Muhฤฑt (E-21-Bangladesh Worker) and Abdus Suban (E-27-Bangladesh-Worker), who were present.

He explained that it was determined that they were brought to the TRNC with the promise of taking them from Bangladesh to Europe at the beginning of 2022, and that they received 6 thousand Euros from the named ones in return for this, and that they were registered in various educational institutions and employed in construction works.

Police said that suspect 1 Sayyed Ahmed and suspect 2 Abdullah Almamun, who are wanted in relation to the matter, were arrested on 22 August as per a court order.

VOLUNTEER CONDEMNED ITS CRIME BY EXPRESSING

The police stated that the suspect 1 voluntarily gave a statement to the police on the same day and confessed to his crime. The police said that the work for the confirmation of the voluntary statement given by the suspect 1 has been started and is continuing.

The police stated that they were looking for 6 people who were determined to have a connection with the issue, and there were evidences of the witnesses to be sought, and the works for the confirmation and refutation of the voluntary statement given by the suspect 1 are continuing.

The police demanded that the suspects be kept in police custody for 3 days, as it is highly likely that if the suspects are released at this stage, they will have a negative impact on the safe conduct of the investigation.

Judge Hazal Hacฤฑmulla, evaluating the testimony given in his presence, ordered the suspects to be detained for 3 days.
