Mustafa Baybora, the President of the Cyprus Turkish Teachers’ Union (KTÖS), who complained to the Cyprus Post about the problems related to education and the new education period, underlined that the biggest problems are the communication channels and dialogue with the relevant minister.

Mustafa Baybora stated that the approaches that exclude stakeholder unions in education in the regulations made are not wrong, unnecessary and not in favor of our education life and said, “I am a minister, I do what I want approaches do not bring progress in education”.

“WE DON’T WANT TO THINK NAZIM HOCA HAS SUCH A PERSONAL FEATURE”

Mustafa Baybora, President of the Cyprus Turkish Teachers’ Union (KTÖS), spoke as follows;

“First of all, our main problem is the problem we are experiencing due to the closed channels of communication with the current minister of education, this is a fundamental problem.

We are saddened by the fact that the relevant minister said that he was not aware of such a study after 10 days after we conveyed the whole of the information we shared and brought it to the public’s information.

We do not want to think that Nazım Hodja has such a personality trait. In our face-to-face meeting, he said that he did not read this, and we expressed to him that this is even more thought-provoking…”

“EDUCATIONAL UNIONS ARE THE VOICE OF EDUCATION…”

“Regulations need to be consulted with us. Education unions are the voice of education. Without consulting us, the atmosphere got tense on hot summer days and things came to a point we didn’t like at all… I’m a minister, I do what I want approach does not bring progress in education.

The biggest uncertainty of the new era is planlessness, lack of programming and lack of control… This is our main problem. The physical structures in schools should be finalized as soon as possible. Every year, we have problems with the staff and we show sacrifice in all kinds of issues.

We think that health and cleaning activities should be staffed by the ministry, not subcontracted…”
