Çavuşoğlu evaluated YKS results with universities
“We have reached the highest quota occupancy rate in the last five years, with a rate of 74.80%”
After the announcement of the 2022 Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) results, Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu held an evaluation meeting with universities operating in the TRNC.
The heads of the board of trustees and the rectors of the universities attended the meeting held at the Ministry.
In his statement after the meeting, Çavuşoğlu stated that the results of 2022 YKS Central Placement were announced by OSYM in line with the preferences of the candidates who took the exam, and according to these results, 11 thousand 141 students of Turkish nationality earned the right to enroll in a program within the 14 thousand 895 quota allocated for TRNC Universities. He pointed out that they have reached the highest occupancy rate in the last five years with an occupancy rate of 74.80%.
Stating that last year, the number of students who were entitled to enroll in METU, ITU and ASBU was 773, and this year 1127 of the 1295 quotas allocated were filled, Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that they achieved an increase of 45.80% in this field compared to last year. emphasized that the total number of students who have the right to enroll in our universities is 4708 more than last year.

Having detailed information about the quota occupancy rates of the last five years, Çavuşoğlu stated that in 2018, 45.94%; 57.35% in 2019; 62.36% in 2020; He said that they achieved an occupancy rate of 56.55% in 2021 and 74.80% in 2022, and that 11141 students were entitled to enroll in our country’s universities this year.
11% increase in the number of quotas allocated to TRNC universities
Çavuşoğlu stated that with their initiatives, the number of quotas allocated to TRNC universities increased by 11% and the number of quotas allocated in 2021 was increased to 14895 in 2022. brought.

In this context, Çavuşoğlu conveyed his thanks to everyone who contributed to the achievement of the targets set and said, “We are happy with the results we have achieved through the intense work we have carried out within the scope of the Student Friendly Island project. Now, we should work harder, welcome our children who will come to our country throughout their education life, on this beautiful education island and create a peaceful environment. In this context, immediately after the results we obtained, we held an evaluation meeting with our universities. The registration period of our students to our universities will start soon. At this point, I gave my views to the universities in order to reduce the fees in order to support the students who prefer our country. I hope that our universities will evaluate this proposal, I believe that we will carry the education of our country to better points in line with the goals we have set.” he said.
Expressing that he will meet with the authorities of the student dormitories operating in the country in the coming days, Çavuşoğlu said that they will continue their work in order to ensure the continuity of the momentum gained in education after the pandemic.
