CTP Deputy Fikri Toros emphasized that we should not be the party that gives up insisting on peace in Cyprus and said, “A study is being carried out to completely cut off the TRNC from the world.”
Deputy of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Fikri Toros participated in the program called Sabah Post, which was broadcast on Cyprus Post TV and prepared and presented by Gรถkhan Altฤฑner.
Toros stated that it is a well-known fact that twenty-eight municipalities are experiencing financial difficulties and that this negatively affects the people of the town.
Toros said that the CTP was never against reform, but such a perception was created.
Stating that they said that there should be a transformation in some of the criteria regarding the draft law. Toros said, “Obviously, UBP seemed convinced.”
โPROCEDURE HAS BEEN FULLY KILLEDโ
Stating that an Ad-Hoc Committee was established in which everyone would participate, and that the Ad-Hoc Committee issued a report in which the criteria were determined.
Toros said, “We learned from the press that the Law on Unification of Municipalities was sent to the committee without anyone’s knowledge.”
Stating that the public was not consulted on the subject and they only accepted it with the majority of their fingers.
Toros said, “It is such a premature study that they had to change eighty percent of it again at the general assembly stage. We, as the main opposition, made a thousand and one calls.”
โAUTHORITY IS VIOLATIONโ
Stating that they had met in the Ad-Hoc committee and demanded a study that could carry the title of reform in real terms. Toros underlined that at the current point, autonomy, which is an indispensable element of the reform, has been violated.
Pointing out that the first thing to be done is the regulation of the law numbered 51/95. Toros said that the real reform is clustering and that when they say ‘let’s do this’ they are ignored.
Stating that there are many content that does not comply with the Constitution at this point. Toros said that he focused on the practical and political dimension of the event. Toros also underlined that they see a high probability of the court rejecting this law.
โLEAVING THE UN MEANS PUTTING SOCIAL STATUS IN A SERIOUS DANGERโ
Making evaluations about the Cyprus problem, Toros said, “Our biggest mistake was to leave the United Nations ground for the resolution of the Cyprus problem.” Toros mentioned that leaving the UN is putting equal social status in serious jeopardy.
Talking about the UN resolution 186, which was issued in March 1964, Toros noted that, in fact, the Cyprus problem became a file of the UN thanks to this.
On the issue of political equality, Toros said that the Greek people do not find it acceptable that Turkish Cypriots take part in all federal bodies with a ‘veto vote’.
Stating that we should never be the party that gives up insisting on peace. Toros said, โYyou should not abandon the legitimate ground, as President Ersin Tatar did, all credibility achieved so far would be discredited,โ he said. He pointed out that this was Ersin Tatar ‘s biggest mistake.
โHE SHOULD PUT THE GUMS ON AN IRREVOLUTIONARY ROADโ
Confidence Building Measures (GYร) before emphasizing that Ersin Tatar should put it on the table. Toros said, “He should have put the Greeks on an irreversible path, he did not do this.”
Mentioning that Ersin Tatar’s policy is entirely aimed at the division of Cyprus. Toros mentioned that there is a study aimed at completely separating it from the world and that UBP and Tatar are fed by this.
โTATAR’S POLICY IS LOSE WINNINGโ
โThis so-called new policy does not represent the people, nothing has been achieved. The new policy could not open the closed Maraล, nor could it employ the immovable property commission,” Toros said.
He said that Ersin Tatar’s policy is a policy that makes the winners lose.
Stating that the Republic of Turkey supported Tatar to become President, Toros drew attention to the fact that Turkey has a very important international position and responsibility during the EU-USA and Russia-Ukraine war.
Toros asked the question, โWhy do you reject the potential of Ercan Airport to open up to international flights?โ
