Cyprus International University (CIU) is ready for the new academic year with its departments of Journalism, Visual Communication Design, Radio, Television and Cinema, and Public Relations and Advertising within the Faculty of Communication, with application-oriented courses that allow the use of a wide variety of computer programs in line with the demands of the sector.

CIU Faculty of Communication Dean Prof. Dr. Hikmet Seç pointed out that the Faculty is one of the oldest and most well-established Faculties of the University, and noted that it continues to renew itself continuously to meet the requirements of the era with its ILAD accreditation and its renewed curriculum.

In the digital age we live in, with industry 4.0, some changes have occurred and it is now difficult to take part in the communication sector. Pointing out the importance of being individuals, Seç noted that while their education is carried out in English as the Faculty, they also provide students with applied and theoretical knowledge from many fields with their renewed curriculum.

Prof. Dr. Election reminded that the Department of Public Relations and Advertising within the Faculty of Communication has a 5-year accreditation certificate issued by the Communication Research Association (ILAD), and stated that they have started accreditation studies for the Radio, Television and Cinema Department this year.

Underlining that accreditations are of great importance for them, Seçkin said, “Our faculty is a faculty that has proven its worth in the international arena, thanks to the qualifications of our instructors, the adequacy of our course programs in line with the demands of the industry, and the richness of laboratory and library resources.”

Prof. Dr. Election stated that 70% of the courses in the Faculty are carried out in laboratories, studios and workshops, and said, “it is very important for students to be able to practice in media studies as well as theoretical knowledge.” Pointing out that there are two internship programs covering a total of 20 working days in their curricula for this reason, Seç also pointed out that this practice increases the opportunities for students to find a job.

Providing information about the application and admission to the Faculty of Communication, Seçil stated that TRNC national students who graduated from TRNC high schools and Turkish citizens who have completed their entire high school education in TRNC can apply to all programs with their Student Placement and Scholarship Ranking Exam Results or their diploma grade averages.

Election also said, “Candidate students with GCE A’ level, GCE AS level, IGCSE-GCSE O’ level exam results have the right to be admitted to all programs.”
