The collection of helicopter landing charges in the country will begin on May 9, the Managing Director of Naebi Dynamic Concepts Limited, Stanley Chike, has said.
Chike, who confirmed the move, said stakeholders in the sub-sector and helicopter operators had been briefed on the concessionaire’s mandate and informed of the planned collection of landing fees.
He said the decision was reached with Helicopter Services Operators in Nigeria at a meeting at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa.
Naebi Dynamic Concepts Limited is the concessionaire empowered by the Federal Government to collect helicopter landing charges as well as monitoring and surveillance of helicopter movements in the country.
According to Chike, the collection would start nationwide simultaneously.
In a statement in Abuja, Chike said: “Stakeholders would kindly recall that, the date of collection as stated, comes 90 days, after the inauguration of the consortium precisely on the 4th of February, 2022.
“Helicopter services are adding to the existing charge. Collection is starting nationwide simultaneously.
“90 days’ notice was given after inauguration by the representative of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Minister of Aviation on the 4th of February 2022 and collection starts by the 9th of May 2022
“We are building a state of the art control room to monitor all helicopter movements and give this information to the government promptly.
“Gone are the days when unauthorised and illegal movements of helicopters will go unnoticed.”
