Owo Chief Murder: Ondo Police deny arrest of suspects

Ondo State police Command has denied reports that its operatives have arrested some suspects involved in the killing of Chief Tunde Ilori, the Elerewe of Owo town, headquarters of Owo Local Government Area.

Chief Ilori was killed last December by gunmen over a land dispute.
The late Elerewe and other chiefs were sent by the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, to visit the disputed property when the gunmen ambushed them and killed Chief Ilori while others sustained injuries.
Police sources hinted last night that some persons were arrested on Wednesday, though the prime suspect was on the run.
But police spokesperson Funmi Odunlami said no suspects were arrested, stressing that neither the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) nor the Police Division in Owo released any information to that effect.
