The NYSC President’s Honours Award winners have been advised to utilise their creative talents to carve a niche for themselves as responsible role models in the society.

NYSC Director-General, Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim gave the advise today when some members among the last set of NYSC President’s Honours Award winners paid a courtesy call on him in his office.

The DG urged the awardees to put into use the skills they acquired in camp through NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme so as to create jobs and reduce the level of unemployment in the country.

He further enjoined the award winners, all of whom have been offered employment into the Federal Civil Service to join the advocacy for the establishment of NYSC Trust Fund.

He said the fund, if actualised, would provide business grants for Corps Members as they exit service, deepen the funding of SAED programme and also address the infrastructural deficits in the Scheme.

“Even if you win the NYSC President’s Honours Award, you will still benefit from the fund as a Corps Member.

Bring your intelligence and expertise to bare on the development of the nation”, lbrahim added.

Speaking earlier, the leader of the awardees, Seriki Adetutu thanked President Muhammadu Buhari and NYSC Director-General, Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim for providing an enabling platform for them during their service year, and honouring them with the prestigious award.

“We came to thank the Director-General and President Muhammadu Buhari for the honours award bestowed on us”, she said.

As a sign of appreciation, the awardees presented Award of Honour to the Director-General, Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim, to  commemorate one year anniversary of being recipients of NYSC President’s Honours Award.
