Rivers State Police Commissioner, Friday Edoka and Zonal Operations Controller, Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission, Mr. G.C Ineh, have commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on its sustained collaboration and rising effectiveness in tackling the menace of economic and financial crimes.
They gave the commendation separately in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, while the Port Harcourt Zonal Commander of the EFCC, ACE Nwanneka Nwokike paid them Courtesy Visits in their respective offices.
Edoka expressed delight that the ” EFCC is growing”, stressing that the Police ” would always offer every assistance to support the EFCC because we nurtured it from its inception”.
In his own remark, Ineh said Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission, by its statutory functions, would always collaborate with the EFCC. “Our operations require that we collaborate. We enforce, monitor operations, impose fines but we cannot prosecute. That is why we rely on EFCC. Your role is important because the economy is only dependent on oil and gas”, he said.
Nwokike appreciated the Police boss and the NURC, stressing that ” there is no limit to collaboration because the Nigerian project requires the collective efforts of all of us to succeed”.
