A 3-day Corps Commander Electrical and Mechanical Engineers First Quarter Conference 2022 kick started at the newly constructed Nigerian Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Multipurpose Hall, Auchi Edo State today 21 February 2022.
The theme of the conference is โSustaining the Effectiveness of the Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers towards Providing Robust Equipment Support to the Nigerian Armyโ.
The Conference is aimed at discussing the outcome of the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference 2021, appraise the performance of Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in 2021 as well as to sensitize field commanders of the Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers commanders on how best to support all Nigerian Army activities in 2022.
The conference will also serve as an avenue to discuss training, operational activities and other technical matters concerning the Corps.
In his opening remarks, the Corps Commander Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Maj Gen Dickson Ehiorobo noted that the Equipment Support provided by the Corps in 2022 in various theatres of operation was commendable. He also said; a lot has been achieved in terms of repairs, recovery, innovations as well as Research and Development in support of the Nigerian Army operations. He further said – those current realities necessitate the Corps to engage in robust Research and Development, reverse engineering and innovations to produce required components, spares and assemblies towards ensuring the needed equipment support for all Nigerian Army operations. He therefore urged commanders and officers of the Corps to continue to enhance the capacity of their personnel to provide quality, timely and efficient equipment support to formations and units in the NA.
Highlights of the opening ceremony include the commissioning of the newly constructed Nigerian Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Multipurpose Hall and a lecture on โLeveraging Homegrown Capacity for NA’S Equipment Needs through Innovation, Creativity and Reverse Engineeringโ, delivered by Lieutenant Colonel (Associate Professor) Abubakar Surajo Imam from Nigerian Defence Academy amongst other activities.
The ongoing conference is well attended by the Acting Commandant Nigerian Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Brig Gen Aniedi Edet, field commanders of the Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, commanding officers, senior officers and other invited guests.
