The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, on Thursday, February 10, 2022, expressed the Commission’s willingness to collaborate with the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, in actualizing her mandate.
The EFCC boss gave the assurance when the Director-General of NBC, Malam Balarabe shehu Ilelah led management staff of NBC on a courtesy visit to the EFCC headquarters, Jabi, Abuja.
Bawa, in response to a request by the NBC boss, pledged the Commission’s support in training staff of the NCB in investigation. He however noted that the training needs of the agency will have to be determined, to know the type of training that will be suitable.
He thanked the NBC for the radio broadcast license granted the Commission even as he requested for an upgrade of the bandwidth to enable the Commission reach a wider audience as soon as the station comes on stream.
Speaking earlier, the Director General of the NBC, Balarabe Ilelah said he was at the Commission to explore ways both agencies can work together especially in combating the menace of hate speech and fake news. “We are here for two or three reasons: number one, is to find ways to work together and to cooperate with your commission; we have so many things in common, we regulate the media industry and part of our work is to control hate speech and fake news.”
