Bilateral Cooperation: Nigeria assures France of greater ties

The Minister of Defence, Maj Gen Bashir Salihi Magashi (Rtd) has said that Nigeria will continue to maintain bilateral cooperation with France to reflect real – time security related needs of both countries. 

The Minister made this statement when the Ambassador of France to Nigeria Emmanuelle Blatmann paid a courtesy call on him at Ministry of Defence Headquarters, Ship House, Abuja. 

Gen. Magashi while appreciating the Ambassador of France for the cordial relationship that exist between Nigeria and France said both countries are strategic partners, pointing out that the partnership needs to be rejigged to optimally explore ventures of their relationship.  

He suggested a more proactive intelligence gathering mechanism and technological support to drive new information sharing between France and Nigeria.

The minister further said that technological transfer to galvanize the nation’s Military productive capabilities in the sector is needed to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Earlier, the Ambassador of France to Nigeria, Mrs Blatmann said their visit is aimed at strengthening the existing bilateral relationship between the two Countries, assuring that her Country will reinforce efforts to end terrorism in Nigeria and Piracy in the Gulf of Guinea.
