Court Jails Five Students for Illegally Dealing in Petroleum Products

The Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday, December 3, 2021 secured the conviction of five students: John Okonkwo, Okwundu Patrick, Chibuzor Ezechi, Emmanuel Efoke and Chinedu Nwoye, before Justice I.M Buba of the Federal High Court sitting in Enugu on separate one count charge bordering on distributing petroleum products without license.

The charge against OKWUNDU PATRICK reads, “that you OKWUNDU PATRICK on the 25th day of July, 2021 at Oba within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, without license did distribute petroleum products and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 4(1) of the Petroleum Act, Cap P10, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2007 and punishable under Section 4(6) of the same Act”.
All five defendants pleaded guilty to their respective charges. Consequently, Justice Buba convicted and sentenced them to two (2) years imprisonment with an option of Three Hundred Thousand Naira fine each.
