Court remands two herbalists, one other for alleged murder in Ibadan

A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, on Friday remanded two herbalists and one other man at the Abolongo correctional facility for alleged murder of a woman, identified as Mudijat.

The two herbalists are: Ismail Wasiu, 29, and Shittu Mutairu, 35, while the other defendant is Kareem Rafiu, a. k. a. Omo Odo Agba, 26.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the trio of Wasiu, Mutairu and Rafiu are being tried on a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder.
The Magistrate, Mrs Munirat Giwa-Babalola who did not take the plea of the defendants due to lack of jurisdiction, ordered their remand at Abolongo correctional facility, Oyo Town.
Giwa-Babalola said the defendants would be remanded, pending the outcome of sending the case file to the Oyo State Ministry of Justice.
She adjourned the matter till Jan .12, 2022, for mention.
The Prosecutor, ASP Sunday Fatola, had told the court that the three defendants conspired to commit the offence of murder.
Fatola said: “The two herbalists were approached by “a yahoo boy” that needed a human head, while Mutairu arranged and lured the victim, Mujidat ‘F’ to Saki from Lagos State.
“The defendants allegedly caused the death of Mujidat unlawfully by slaughtering her with knife.
“The trio of Wasiu, Mutairu and Rafiu allegedly dismember her body and packed it in a sack before they were arrested, ” said Fatola.
He said the offence was committed on Oct. 24, at about 10:00 p.m. in Ato area, Ayekale, Saki, Oyo State.
Fatola said the offence was contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 and 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
