The Director General, Bureau of Public Service Reforms, BPSR, Mr. Dasuki Ibrahim Arabi, has been drafted into the ‘Sub-Committee on Implementation of Government White Paper on Restructuring and Rationalization of Federal Government Parastatals, Agencies and Commissions’.
He was also selected to be part of the ‘Sub-Committee on Review of New Parastatals, Agencies and Commissions Created after Submission of the Report on Restructuring’.
Arabi would serve as a Member and Secretary in both committees.
The committees were inaugurated yesterday by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Mr. Boss Mustapha.
Mustapha, who was represented by the Head of Service of the Federation, HoS, Folashade Yemi-Esan, inaugurated the sub-committees’ members in Abuja.
He said the two committees were constituted to provide government with action plan and roadmap of implementing the recommendations contained therein.
He directed the Secretariat, headed by Arabi, to ensure that all resources are provided to enable speedy completion of the urgent national assignment.
According to the SGF, the inability to implement the report of the committee on restructuring and rationalization of federal government parastatals, agencies and commissions is costing the government highly.
“This cost grows higher for every delay that the implementation suffers. This is further worsened by the fact that immediately after the report was released, parastatals and agencies billed for mergers or scrapping began developing means of further entrenching themselves as a major expenditure source to government. Furthermore, new agencies were also created to compound the situation,” Mustapha said.
The sub-committee on implementation of the white paper is headed by a retired HoS, Mr. Bukar Goni Aji, as Chairman; while Ms. Amal Pepple, also a retired HoS, was appointed as Chairman of the sub-committee on the review of new parastatals, agencies and commissions created after the submission of the white paper on restructuring.
