The Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) National President Mrs Salamatu Faruk Yahaya have paid a maiden visit to NAOWA 6 Division Chapter in Port Harcourt.
Speaking at the reception at Headquarter 6 Division Conference Hall, Mrs Salamatu F Yahaya expressed her delight towards the warm reception accorded her and her entourage and congratulated Maj Gen Sanni Gambo Mohammed on his well deserved appointment as General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigerian Army.
She stated that the purpose of her visit was to firstly convey her immense gratitude towards the support and interventions NAOWA 6 Division Chapter has receiving under the leadership of the chairperson NAOWA 6 Div Chapter, Mrs Hafsat Mohammed and also to assist in the commissioning of the NAOWA 6 Division Chapter Secretariat Complex, School library at the NAOWA Nursery and Primary School as well as FatiAtahiru Wellness Center.
The National President added that she was delighted with the leadership of Mrs Hafsat Mohammed which she disclosed was in line with her vision to “Sustain the Legacies and Uphold the Tenets of Unity and Service” disclosing that her goals was to standardize NAOWA assets, improve management of those assets and also uphold their humanitarian gestures towards empowering widows, youths and the less privileged within and outside the barracks.
She appealed to the GOC 6 Division Nigerian Army, Maj Gen SG Mohammed, to continue extending his support towards the chapter.
The GOC in his address appraised the leadership of the National President Mrs Salamatu F Yahaya stating that her vision is linked with the Chief Of Army Staff’s vision which is “A professional Nigerian Army ready to accomplish assigned missions within a joint environment in defense of Nigeria”.
He reassured her of the support of Headquarters 6 Division towards identifying the challenges of the association and thus assisting in actualizing their goals.
Highlights of the occasion includes signing of the visitors register, presentation of souvenirs and group photograph and a visit to Military Hospital Port Harcourt where she donated beddings and other materials to the hospital.
