The Federal Government has begun the enumeration of 105,693 pupils in Yobe State, under the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Umar Farouq represented by the team lead Maidugu Hassan disclosed this during the enumeration exercise at Bundigari and Dikumari primary schools in Damaturu Local Government Area of Yobe State.
According to the Minister, “we are here today to conduct enumeration exercise in order to create a data base to expand the programme in the state, we are targeting 248 Schools for the enrollment while the number of School Pupils we are targeting is 105,693 and the Cooks we intend to emumerate are 772 in number with 992 Vendors”.
She said that,” the essence of the capturing and enumeration of pupils is to ensure transparency, accountability sustainability of the programme “.
“This is part of the FHMADMSD mandate of striving that every Nigeria in need receives the support they need through our social protection mechanisms”.
On his part, the Director National Orientation Agency (NOA) in the state representated by Garba Ali Chief Administration Officer of the Agency stated that they were in charge of the programme’s sensitization, distribution of forms to the benefiting pupils and guiding them on how to fill it. “We have been visiting the Schools and enlightening them, it is a morale booster indeed”.
Also speaking, Abba Mohammed, a class three pupil in Bindigari Primary School commended the Minister of Humanitarian affairs Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq for the support to the programme ” now are no longer hungry during school hours, every day we eat delicious food, snacks and pap”.
