The attack which happened in Kachia on Wednesday lasted over an hour, The Nation learnt.
Police confirmed the attack, saying the injured were receiving treatment in hospitals but spokesman Mohammed Jalige said he had no information on whether anyone was abducted, adding that a meeting had been called on the attack.
District Head of Kachia Sabiu Suleiman said 33 persons were kidnapped.
He spoke when a delegation from the state government and security officials visited the affected communities yesterday.
The District Head said the bandits invaded the town around 9.30pm and started shooting rapidly for more than an hour before security personnel arrived.
He said the assailants abducted people from some locations in the area, and grabbed some from isolated homes.
