Embrace Hardwork, Bawa Urges Nigerian Students

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdurrasheed Bawa, on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 urged Nigerian students to shun all forms of economic and financial crimes and embrace hardwork as the sure way to success.

The EFCC boss who was represented by the Head, Enlightenment and Reorientation unit of the Commission, Nwanyinma Okeanu, made the call when students of Prime Scholars’ Secondary School visited the Commission.

The Chairman who highlighted the efforts in ridding the country of corruption, urged the students to shun all vices.  “The onus is placed on us to make this country great by shunning all vices. This country is ours to build.  This country is yours to build; it is up to us to tell the truth. Our call on you today is to be up and doing; do not involve yourself in cultism, stealing, coming to school late and exam malpractice. Hardwork is the only road to success. We should learn to eschew all forms of economic and financial crimes.

“The youth are the leaders of tomorrow, but how can you be good leaders of tomorrow if you engage in those vices? When you study and you write well, you will pass, but when you cheat, you won’t go anywhere. As a youth, you need to understand that your future is in your hands, you need to understand that Nigeria needs you as much as you need Nigeria. Even our religions, both Islam and Christianity abhor corruption, so we should fight corruption, and the fight start with me and you all,” the Chairman said.

Aisha Muhammad, an official of the Enlightenment Unit, invited the students to join the Integrity Club of the EFCC, which is designed to mobilize the youths to embrace the fight against corruption. “We will also like to introduce your school to our Integrity Club where representatives from schools actually represent us whenever we have a programme. So, if your school is willing, you can write a letter to us, inviting us to come and inaugurate the integrity club in your school, but you have to take it to your heart.” She said.

Precious Orilade, thanked the EFCC chairman, for giving them the opportunity to come, learn and see things for themselves.

The students were conducted round the headquarters complex and given enlightenment materials.
