Omo-Agege mourns demise of Madam Urhoboferere Edematie-Ikuku


The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has described the demise of Deaconess Urhoboferere Edematie-Ikuku as a great loss. 

Deaconess Edematie-Ikuku, mother of Chief (Dr.) Michael Edematie-Ikuku; Chairman/CEO, Michharry and Company Nigeria Limited – died at the age of 108. 



In his condolence message, Senator Omo-Agege described the matriarch as a devout Christian and a philanthropist with an unparalleled commitment to doing things that would advance the Kingdom of God.

While commiserating with the family, Urhobo nation and Delta State in general, the lawmaker urged them to be consoled by the fact that Mama not only left at a ripe age but also lived a life worthy of emulation. 

The Delta Central lawmaker therefore urged the immediate family to honour her by keeping her legacies alive. 

“In recognition of her selfless services, Mama was conferred with the revered title of a Deaconess. She was also a pioneer member of the Cornerstone Christian Church International, Agbarho. Mama worked tirelessly to ensure the growth and expansion of the Church and this led to the establishment of Cornerstone Christian Church, Eruemukohwarien. She was a woman profoundly committed to honesty and moral rectitude in all ramifications.

“She was a humanitarian who was passionate about the care of widows within and outside the Community. She also made financial and material contributions to numerous orphanages, paid school fees for indigent students and carried out other noble gestures worthy of emulation. 

“As we mourn her passing, let me express my heartfelt condolences to her family and pray that God grants her soul eternal rest”, he stated.
