…tasks Directors, Staffers on more commitment to duty.
The Commissioner, Ministry of Education in Akwa Ibom State, Mrs Idongesit Etiebet, has officially resumed duty.
Etiebet who arrived the Ministry of Education office complex in Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat, at about 8:00am today, was treated to a warm welcome by the Staff members of the ministry who arrived their duty post in time.
Speaking during a familiarity meeting with the Permanent Secretary and Directors, the Commissioner after thanking God for all his benevolence, expressed appreciation to Governor Udom Emmanuel for finding her worthy of appointment as the Chief Servant in the Ministry of Education. Promising to contribute her best towards the actualization of the State Government’s completion agenda, Etiebet tasked the Permanent Secretary and Directors in the Ministry on more commitment to duty.
Speaking further, the erstwhile Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Education monitoring who recalled that the Education Ministry was always known for excellence, admonished the Permanent Secretary to immediately ensure that everything (both infrastructure and human attitude) about the ministry, comes alive. She Stressed that all Staff members must rise and be more passionate and committed to their responsibilities.
“We are all aware that the Governor has declared a state-of-emergency in the Education sector and we are the people to make the Governor’s dreams a reality. As the Government is ready to improve the Education sector, we must be ready to work assiduously. I therefore admonish all of us to be more committed to duty. My office will always be opened for useful ideas and contributions that will see to the actualization of His Excellency’s dreams and vision for the Education sector”. She added.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary – Mrs Helen Ante, in her welcome address, applauded Governor Emmanuel for assigning Mrs Etiebet to the Education Ministry. She described Etiebet as a square peg in a square hole.
“Honourable Commissioner, in the past, whenever we gathered here for meetings, you were always seated somewhere but today, you have assumed the seat of the Honourable Commissioner. This is indeed, a reward for good works and it’s a big lesson for all”.
“We are happy to have you as our Commissioner. Therefore, on behalf of the Staff of this ministry, I want to pledge our unalloyed support and loyalty to enable you succeed, especially as you are coming to bring to bare, His Excellency’s completion agenda in the Education Sector, we welcome you madam.”
Speaking on commitment to duty, Mrs Ante who maintained that the name Idongesit Etiebet reasonates punctuality, regularity and commitment, tasked the directors to raise their games. She however, Stressed that the days of lateness and poor attitude to duty, are over in the ministry of Education.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner on arrival, was conducted around the offices and various Directorates within the ministry.
