99 percent of civil servants and pensioners have been paid up-to-date, saysGovernor Uzodimma

Governor Hope Uzodimma has maintained that 99% of civil servants and pensioners in Imo state have been paid up-to-date.

The Governor who was speaking at the 2020 Christmas carol and thanksgiving organized by the Imo state government also revealed the role of some labour leaders sabotaging Government efforts with propaganda and blackmails.

The state Governor disclosed that despite the propaganda and blackmail of the unhealthy opposition, 43,000 public sector workers have been paid their salaries up to date while only few workers who have not complied with the automation protocol still have challenges with their salaries.

On the issue of the payment of pensioners, 21,000 pensioners have been paid upto Date except for those who haven’t fully submitted their particulars to the automation protocols.

Senator Uzodimma stated that no reasonable person will blame the Government for the plight of those who bluntly refuse to comply with the rules of the automation process as the process has come to stay.

He also disclosed that the opposition forces now use some retired labour leaders to spread falsehood that the Government is owing workers and pensioners, as he challenged any verified worker or pensioner not paid to come up with the details and information.

“The new propaganda going on in town, trying to blackmail the Government, trying to sow seeds of hatred, is to say the least that it is an unpatriotic thing anyone can do” Uzodimma stated.

He further disclosed that some labour leaders have submitted themselves for political interests and to drive the process of blackmailing the Government against the interest of workers.

“I believe that we have led the right foundation, we have taken the initial steps for good governance and have done all sacrifices needed to be made. I am therefore confident that in the coming months or years, we shall all but marvel at an Imo State we shall behold because it will make all of us very very proud indeed”. Uzodimma stated.
