16 abducted, four shot by gunmen in Kaduna



Sixteen persons have been abducted by gunmen on the Kaduna-Birnin-Gwari Road in Kaduna State.

Some of the abductees were children and women, one of whom with a baby strapped to her back.

It was also gathered that four persons were shot and abandoned by the assailants.

The incident happened about 7am on Saturday when the victims, many of them family members, were going to farm, it was learnt.

A survivor, Mallam Yakubu Barauni, told journalists on Sunday that he was shot in the legs.

“We were on our way to the farm when we were attacked by some bandits. They took away 16 people, four were shot, three taken to hospital in Kaduna town,” he said.

Barauni said the bandits were yet to contact the community.
