Tearful supporters, others welcome Kashamu’s remains

Tears from mournful eyes flowed as thousands surged into the country home of Senator Buruji Kashamu, the strong man of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ijebu – Igbo, Ogun State to pay their last respects.

The mourners, cutting across religious, political and ethnic divides, including Ogun Governor, Dapo Abiodun, wailed as remains of Kashamu arrived home for burial according to Islamic rite.

Overwhelmed by a sense of loss of the philanthropist and dogged political fighter, many of his supporters paid scanty attention to safe physical distance or wearing of face masks as they bathed with sorrow over his passing.

Abiodun arrived at exactly 10:39am  with his entourage.

The late politician’s running mate on the ticket of the Peoples’ Democratic Party in Ogun during the 2019 governorship  election, Dr Reuben Abati and a former Deputy Governor Prince Segun Adesegun were also present for the late senator’s burial.
