NYSC prepares to reopen Katsina camp

The National Youth Service Scheme, (NYSC) has begun preparations for reopening of the suspended  Katsina orientation camp in the next two weeks.

The Katsina State Coordinator of NYSC Alhaji Yahaya Ahidjo stated this to The Nation on Sunday shortly after returning from a management meeting of the scheme at its Abuja National headquarters.

He said he has already written to the State Government and COVID-19 Committees to retrieve NYSC facilities in their custodies for fumigation and conditioning

According to him: At the Abuja meeting we were asked to liaise with our  respective state government in getting our camp ready in 2 weeks from today and to observe social distancing in all camp activities and all other COVID-19 protocols.

“And we expect half of the normal number of corpers in the next camp.”

The Nation recalled the camp was suspended nationwide in early April by Director General of the scheme Brigadier General Musa Shuaibu over the coronavirus outbreak.

The activities of the scheme have since been scaled down to passing out of several batches of corps members in strict adherence with COVID-19 protocols.
