I will exceed your expectations, Obaseki tells Oshiomhole’s in-laws

…promises more roads, schools, others for Esanland

…receives royal blessings from Duke of Ewohimi

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Tuesday vowed to sustain ongoing work on all the infrastructural projects across the state to improve livelihoods and engender sustainable development.

The governor assured that the interest of the ordinary Edo people will be put first in the development of the state, adding, “I will exceed your expectations. We will continue to focus on improving governance to transform the lives of our people.”

Obaseki gave the assurance while addressing party faithful in Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area of the state, the hometown of late Mrs. Clara Oshiomhole, deceased wife of the former national chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, who died in December 2010.

The governor assured the people that the development their son-in-law, Oshiomhole denied them when he governed the state for eight years would be given to them by his administration.

Obaseki said: “What your son-in-law could not do, I, your son and brother will do it for you. I know that the one that worries you most is electricity. We have discovered that in every ward we went to in this area. I want to assure you that if you vote for me, I will work for you.”

Addressing members of Ewohimi Traditional Council of Chiefs led by His Royal Highness, Peter Ojeifoh Usifoh, the Onojie of Ewohimi, Governor Obaseki promised to prioritise road construction, water and electricity projects as well as education in his second term.

The governor also promised to activate the Ugboha water scheme to meet the water need of residents in the community, dismissing claims that the project had been abandoned by his government.

“We have not abandoned the water scheme in Ugboha. We will not abandon it. The problem of electricity in Edo is not because we do not have power. The problem is with the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC). They are not serious. That is why we can’t even pump water.”

On his part, the His Royal Highness, Peter Ojeifoh Usifoh, the Onojie of Ewohimi, prayed for Obaseki and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Comr. Philip Shaibu, ahead of the September 19, 2020 poll.

Usifoh who spoke through the President of Ewohimi Community Development Association, Mr. Innocent Uwaegbea, promised to support the re-election of the governor with a charge to fulfill his campaign promises.

On his part, Chairman of Edo PDP Campaign Council, Chief Dan Orbih, noted: “The truth must be told, this state is not the property of Oshiomhole.

“You (Ewohimi people) ought not to be craving for development by now because it is where Oshiomhole’s late wife comes from. If he (Oshiomhole) had done what he was supposed to do when he was governor, Obaseki would have turned his attention to other projects in the area.”
