Bauchi Governor dissolves council chairmen ahead of poll

Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed has dissolved the caretaker chairmen across the 20 local government areas to provide a level-playing ground for all candidates in the forthcoming council poll.

Secretary to the State Government, Mohammed Sabiu, in a statement, said the Governor’s move is in compliance with guidelines by the State Independent Electoral Commission for the provision of 30-day notice by all candidates, who wish to participate in the election.

The statement reads: “Following the release of timetable for forthcoming local government council’s elections in the state and in compliance with guidelines issued by the state Independent Electoral Commission for the provision of 30 days’ notice by all candidates, which wish to participate in the election” the governor has approved the dissolution of all the chairmen with immediate effect.”

The Governor directed the outgoing chairmen to hand over the affairs of the LGAs to heads of administration.

He thanked them for their meritorious service and wished them well in their future endeavours.
