A’Ibom Gov’s Wife Urges NAFOWA on Impactful Service Delivery

Wife of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Dr. Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel, has urged members of the Nigerian Air Force Officers Wives Association (NAFOWA), Calabar/Uyo Chapter, to come up with life-touching activities that will boost the image of the organization in the zone.

Dr. Emmanuel made the call on Friday, when she received a cross section of members of the group led by Mrs. Anietie Nkanang in her office during a courtesy/familiarization visit.

The governor’s wife said not much was heard of the group in the zone, asserting that for their impact to be felt, they must creatively initiate programmes that will signpost their slogan which is “service to humanity.”

“Not much has been heard of this group in this zone. Sometimes I wonder if it does exist here because I have been seeing a lot of things done by your colleagues on television in other places. I challenge you all to come up with programmes that will impact women and children within and outside the barracks, by doing so, you will have my full support,” First Lady Martha enthused.

On the family front, the governor’s encouraged the group to always fill the gap for their spouses who have committed themselves to nation building by inculcating in their wards sound moral values.

She also charged them to be economically reliant to support their spouses, saying this will go a long way in helping the family.

On the proposed primary school project of the association in the state, Dr. Emmanuel said it was a welcome idea, promising to lend her support whenever she is being called upon.

Earlier in her remarks, Mrs. Anitie Nkanang who stood in for the group’s zonal coordinator, Mrs. Sarah Sule, appreciated the governor’s wife for deeming fit to grant the group audience in these trying times.

She noted they were in her office to familiarize and as well introduce the executives of the body and its activities to the state first lady. While commending the governor’s wife for her laudable humanitarian programmes for the less privileged members of the society, she called for partnership stressing that her activities fall in line with the motto of the group.

Mrs. Nkanang also solicited support from the governor’s wife on the establishment of NAFOWA Little Angels Academy which she says will cater for the basic educational needs of wards/dependents of NAF personnel and the host community.

Highpoint of the visit was the presentation of Award of Recognition to the governor’s wife for her selfless service to the public and a presentation of the group’s wrappers to her.
