Escaped Plateau inmate re-arrested by troops

Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN deployed at RARIN-SHOU village of Barkin Ladi Plateau state have rearrested Mallam Mohammed Ibrahim, one of the six inmates that escaped during an ambush at the High Court on Thursday by gunmen suspected to be herders.

The re-arrest of the inmate, it was learnt, followed a manhunt operation launched by OPSH.

Media officer of OPSH, Major Ibrahim Shittu, in a statement on Friday, said the rearrested inmate has been handed over to the Nigerian Correctional Service Plateau State Command.

Shittu added efforts are ongoing to re-arrest the remaining inmates.

He appealed to anybody with useful information on any of the escaped inmates to contact the nearest OPSH location or the Nigerian Police.

Gunmen opened fire on Correctional Centre officials, who bought 10 suspects to High Court in Plateau State.

The gunmen took away six suspects, preventing them from standing trial for charges preferred against them.

The incident happened in Barkin Ladi as a convoy of vehicles brought the suspects from Jos into the High Court premises.
