Coalition seeks NDDC IMC dissolution

A coalition of Ijaw groups has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to dissolve the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Interim Management Committee (IMC).

It called for the constitution of agency’s governing board and trial of all those involved in the alleged financial recklessness in the commission.

The group’s position was contained in a statement jointly signed by the Secretary, Ijaw Elders Forum (IEF), Lagos, Pastor Efiye Bribena; Moderator, Ijaw Nation Forum (INF), Ben Okoro; as well as representatives of Embasara Foundation, Ijaw Professional Association (IPA) and the Niger Delta Women International Resources, Environment and Development Centre.

It reads in part: “We are disgusted with the mind-boggling revelations and attitude of the major actors involved in this grand heist who are mainly sons and daughters of the Niger Delta.

“The IMC or any interim body should be dissolved and a Governing Board promptly constituted in line with the NDDC Act.”
