Former Saraki aide installed Monarch in Ondo

A former aide to ex-Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, Prince Ebenezer Adewumi Ogunmolasuyi, has been installed as the 15th Olupenmen of Upenmen in Owo local government area of Ondo State.

Oba Ogunmolasuyi, who emerged from the Ayiwoye Akinola ruling house, is a grandson of Oba Isaiah Ogunmolasuyi I, the 13th Olupenmen.

The community has been without a king since August, 2017 after the death of Oba Samuel Ademulegun, a Retired Army Colonel.

It was in March, 2020 that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu approved the appointment of Prince Ogunmolasuyi, as the Olupenmen elect after polling all the five available votes from the kingmakers to beat Olawole Folarin, his only challenger.

Speaking to newsmen after concluding all the installation rites, Oba Ogunmolasuyi II promised to make youth development at his priority.

Oba Ogunmolasuyi vowed to promote and resuscitate the cultural heritage of the town and entire Yoruba land.

“Our youths are not just the future leaders, but that of today which is why we must do everything to make them less dependent on society.

“During my reign, I will galvanise all human and natural resources to engage our youths for productive activities.”

The Owadara of Upenmen, Chief Idowu Johnson said all necessary traditional rites were performed to ensure peaceful and successful reign of the new monarch.
