Remain focused on fight against corruption, insecurity, Oyerinde tells Buhari

The Chief Executive Officer of Monikol Nigeria Limited Elder Kolapo Oyerinde has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari not to be distracted from the war his administration is waging against corruption and insecurity rocking the country.

Oyerinde stated this while speaking with journalists at the weekend in Lagos, saying the rampaging coronavirus pandemic has exposed a lot of things in the country.

He called on Buhari not to look back in his determination to tackle corruption and insecurity in the country, stressing that Nigeria’s huge population is supposed to be an advantage and potent weapon for its development but because of corruption it has failed to be at par with other developed nations of the world.

According to him, “Corruption has polluted our politics, religion and even way of life, many are now saying that our huge population is a burden. The pandemic is an eye opener to all our leaders especially the Governors who had since advent of democracy pretended as if they have done everything needed in their various states in all sectors.

He applauded the President for his capacity to take critical decisions in the midst of those he called pretenders who continue to create confusion in the polity, saying God has used the present President well for the development of the country.

We thank God for President Buhari’s commitment, patriotism and determination”, he said.

On the management of coronavirus in Lagos State, Oyerinde stated that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has done well, given the fact that the pandemic is new and Lagos has huge population.

He said, “Honestly what the Governor of Lagos State is doing deserve commendation and encouragement. It shows he is committed, determined and truly patriotic.’’

He described Lagos performance during this period as a good credential to the Governors party and a plus for those or whoever introduced him to the electorate in Lagos State.

Oyerinde however advised the Lagos State Governor to immediately reactivate work on the abandoned Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASSRA) project and deploy more resources on proper and clear statistics of the state.

He also commended the Nigeria police force for their commitment and patriotism in the discharge of their duty in ensuring adequate security in the enforcement of the various government pronouncements during this pandemic.
