Heavy traffic as tanker falls across East-West road in Delta

There is heavy traffic congestion along the Agbarho-Railway Flyover axis of the East-West Road, in Delta state, following an accident involving an empty petroleum truck.

It was gathered the incident occurred at about 10 pm on Monday.

The head of the moving truck reportedly pulled off from the tanker and flew across the median to the other lane of the expressway.

Though no life was lost in the accident, the truck driver was said to have sustained injuries.

Residents of the area expressed joy that the accident claimed no lives.

“Thank God the tanker was empty. Otherwise, the fire here would have been horrible,” a resident simply identified as Okiemute, stated.

The incident is causing serious traffic congestion along the East-West Road, preventing motorists from accessing nearby Ughelli town and the Warri metropolis.

Security operatives are said to be at the scene to control the traffic.

A commercial tricycle rider, who spoke to newsmen, disclosed that an alternative route has been blocked.

He added that the curfew imposed by the state government helped to prevent loss of lives
