Three in court over used female underwear

Three men on Wednesday appeared in an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun for allegedly being in possession of used female underwear.

The police charged Ofelola Olawuyi, 25, Ajayi Damilare, 27, and Toheeb Elugbaju, 19,  with three counts of being in possession of female underwear,  disobedience and conspiracy.

Prosecution counsel Emmanuel Abdullahi told the court that the defendants committed the offence between April 6 and April 7 at about 9am in Ile-Ife.

Abdullahi alleged that the defendants also conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of the peace. He told the court that when the defendants were arrested, they could not give satisfactory answers to why they had the underwear in their possession

The prosecutor also alleged that the defendants unlawfully, and without excuse, failed to comply with the Osun State “stay-at-home” order by government to control the COVID-19 epidemic in the state.

The defendants pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate Joseph Owolawi admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N200,000 each with one surety each in like sum.

Owolawi adjourned the case until May 15, for hearing.
