Building collapse kill one in Ibadan

A yet-to-be-identified woman reportedly died on Sunday when a building collapsed at Onipasan Area, behind Oluyoro Hospital, Ibadan North East Local Government area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital city.

The building made of mud suddenly caved in, trapping the victim on Sunday afternoon.

The death was confirmed by the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gbenga Fadeyi.

Although sources privy to the incident say only the woman who died was trapped in the building, no one could confirm if no other person was also involved as at the time of filing this report.

An excavator has been moved to the scene by the local government in the area to rescue the victim and clear the rubbles.

The Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Security Matters, Mr Fatai Owoseni, assured efforts were being made by the State Government and other security agents to rescue the victim trapped and ensure that no life was lost.

Sympathisers have thronged the area helping the security agents to look for possible survivors.
