Two women in court for beating up businessman

Two women on Wednesday appeared in a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly beating up a businessman.

The police charged Rachael Eniola, 55 and Kemi Muritala, 55, whose addresses were not given with three counts of assault, threat to live and breach of public peace.

The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Ikem Ukor, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on March 16, at about 11.20 a.m., at No 5, Onyemeachi Thomas Str., Ijanikin area of Lagos.

Ukor alleged that the defendants beat up one Obinna Ubah and tore his cloth.

He said that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace.

Ukor alleged that they also threatened to get naked in public and also promised to deal with the complainant and his children.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 172, 168 and 56 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Magistrate Patrick Adekomaiya admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N300, 000 each with two surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case until April 27, for mention.
