Two men, Taiwo Tobi, 28 and Oshagbenja Adekunle, 30, on Friday, appeared before an Abeokuta Magistrate’s Court for allegedly breaking into a house and stealing valuables worth N4.5 million
The defendant, of no fixed address, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, ASP Olakunle Shonibare, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Feb. 23, at about 11 pm. at Plot 14, Ibara Housing Estate in Abeokuta.
Shonibare said that the defendants broke into the house of the complainant, Mr Tosin Osibanjo through the window and stole valuable items.
“One of the defendants, Tobi, lives and works for the complainant.
“The complainant had earlier informed him that he was travelling, which made Tobi to conspire and arrange with others to come over to his boss’ house and stole his property.
“The duo stole one Rolex wrist watch, valued at N3.5 million; two Apple IPhone, valued at N220,000; one IPad Phone, valued at N100,000; clothes, valued N310,000 and shoes, valued at 120,000,” he said.
The prosecutor put the value of all the items at N4.5 million.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 516, 412 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Vol. 1, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. M. Somefun, granted the defendants N200,000 bail, with two sureties in like sum.
She ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and must show evidence of tax payment to the Ogun government.
She adjourned the case till March 4, for hearing.
