Agency arrests two suspects in Abia

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Abia State Command have arrested two persons at Umuokoro and Ndiolumbe communities in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of the state in connection with the sale of prohibited substances.

NDLEA Commander in the state, Mr. Bamidele Akingbade in a statement yesterday gave the names of the suspects as Chinasa Peter, 33, and Okwukwe Friday, 36.

According to Akingabde, the arrest of the suspects was sequel to the outcry from the communities through the media over the activities of drug peddlers which have put residents in  in danger.

The people of Umuokoro community were worried that if nothing was done by the government and security agencies to curb the menace of consumption and sale of hard drugs in their communities , the crime wave in the community may get out of hand.
