Kano Government cautions farmers on early planting

Kano state government has called on farmers in the state to avoid planting before the establishment of the onset of year 2020 planting season.

The call is premise on year 2020 Seasonal Rainfall Prediction (SRP) by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) as presented by the Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika.

According to a statement signed by the commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, on Saturday, on the SRP report, which was appraised by the state ministry of water resources, indicated that a couple of rainfall events are expected to occur before the establishment of the 2020 planting season.

It said that Kano is expected to experience a near normal rainfall season in 2020 and therefore called on farmers to use the weather and climate information for their benefits.

The statement also noted that prevalence of diseases related to weather conditions Malaria, Meningitis was also forecasted.
