Insecurity: IGP briefs Senate on Community Policing

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, will on Wednesday morning appear before the Senate at plenary.

Adamu is expected to brief the Senate on the “Concept and implementation modalities of Community Policing Policy” of the Force according to the order paper containing the schedule of activities of the upper chamber for today.

President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, had last week said that the Senate would invite the IGP to explain the Force’s ongoing community policing efforts to the lawmakers.

Lawan said the briefing is part of efforts by the National Assembly in helping to find lasting solution to the deteriorating security situation in the country.

Meanwhile, the Senate yesterday inaugurated an Adhoc Committee on the “Nigerian Security Challenges: Urgent need to restructure, review and reorganize.”
