Katsina Police bust five kidnap syndicates

The Katsina State Police Command on Tuesday evening paraded 5 Kidnap and 4 India hemp syndicates who were arrested when a joint security operation was launched in their hideouts in Safana, Charanchi and Kankia Local Government areas of the state respectively

The Spokesman of the state Police Command, Superintendent Gambo Isa told newsmen at a press briefing at the command headquarters in Katsina that the arrests of the hoodlums followed a tip off to the Police

He said, joint operations of Police and repentant bandits busted a kidnap for ransom syndicate that were terrorizing Safana LGA and arrested 5 gang members in their hideouts’’

“Nemesis caught up with the hoodlums when one of the suspects, Suleiman Sani, 23, of Runka village, Safana, was accosted by the joint operation’’

“In the course of investigation, suspect confessed to have masterminded the kidnapping of a seven-year-old boy, Abdurrahman Sumaila, along with others and demanded for the payment of N3m as ransom but after negotiation agreed and collected N28,000 from his parents’’

SP Gambo further disclosed that one Dane gun was recovered from the 5 man kidnap gang and that investigation is still ongoing.

In a related development The Katsina state Police Command has paraded a 4 man Indian hemp syndicate, following a tip off to the Divisional Police Officers, DPOs, of Charanchi and Kankia local Government Areas by members of the public

SP Gambo the spokesman of the State Police Command, told newsmen that the DPOs led the team to raid the black spots in their areas and succeeded in arresting the 4 notorious Indian hemp and illicit drug dealers that have been terrorizing the two local Government areas

He further disclosed that two bags of India hemp was recovered from the suspects and that investigation is ongoing
