Senator Omo-Agege, Manager win at Appeal Court

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege

The Court of Appeal sitting in Bénin City on Monday upheld the victory of Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege representing Delta Central senatorial district and Senator James Manager representing Delta South senatorial district.

Omo-Agege who contested under the All Progressives Congress floored Hon. Evelyn Oboro of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while Manager of the PDP, floored Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan of the APC.

It would be recalled that the lower Tribunal in Asaba ordered INEC to immediately withdraw the Certificate of Return issued to Sen. James Manager and conduct a rerun election over voting.

Justice Jaro Adamu who read the judgment by the three-man panel set aside the judgment of the tribunal ordering for re-run election.

Justice Adamu said the claims by Uduaghan where mere allegations and not adequately substantiated.

The appeal filed by Oboro against Senator Omo-Agege was thrown out for lack of merit.

In other matters, the appellate court upheld the election of Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi (PDP), representing Warri Federal Constituency in the appeal filed by Hon Daniel Reyenieju of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
