A former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, and Ohanaeze Youth Council Worldwide, have mourned the passing of the pioneer President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and former Chief Justice of Enugu State, HRH Igwe Justice Ezebuilo Ozobu.
Ozobu died on Thursday at the age of 87.
Obi described the death of Ozobu as great losses to the country, describing him as a patriot. He encouraged Nigerians to imitate his sacrifices and embrace only those things that will encourage a just and equitable country.
The Ohanaeze youths in a statement by the President General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and the Secretary General Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, said: “ The OYC sympathizeS with Ndigbo, South East governors, especially Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, South East Traditional Rulers, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the immediate family of His Majesty Igwe Eze Ozobu especially former Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Ime Obi members, Prince Richard Ozobu over the demise of our respected Igbo leader, pioneer President General Ohanaeze Ndigbo, and former Chief Justice of Enugu State, HRM Igwe Justice Ezebuilo Ozobu,who died on Thursday 14th November 2019.
“OYC hereby declares four market days of mourning for this Great Iroko. Igbo nation has lost a a rare gem. An iroko has fallen. We are sad but thankful to God for his exemplary life filled with love and happiness and ask God to grant his family and the Igbo nation the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.
“This sad news came to us as a rude shock from his brother, Prince Richard Ozobu, the former Secretary General Ohanaeze Ndigbo and APC chieftain. We urge Ndigbo to use this four market days to mourn HRM Igwe Justice Ezebuilo Ozobu, remembering all the things he stood for during his lifetime, Adieu Igwe Justice Ezebuilo Ozobu.”
