Rivers State Deputy Governor Dr. Mrs. Ipalibo Harry Banigo has decried the devastating effect of human trafficking on the family unit.
Dr. Banigo stated this during the inauguration of the Immigration Officers Wives Association Rivers State Chapter at Hotel Presidential on Thursday, 14th November, 2019. (IMMOWA).
Represented by her Senior Special Assistant, Barr. Inegogo Fubara, Dr. Banigo said the crushing physical and psychological effect of prostitution on the female gender is often irreversible.
She commended the Association for taking the lead in creating awareness to the Nigerian Women on the dangers of child labour and trafficking.
According to Dr. Banigo “we must continue to sensitize the public on ways to protect their children from child abuse and how to deal with it if it occurs, all hands must be on deck on this issue because the Government cannot do it alone and it is for this reason that I must applaud IMMOWA for taking up this laudable initiative”. Dr. Banigo further stressed.
The Deputy Governor said under the Watch of Governor Wike lots projects geared towards the betterment of the lives of the citizenry has been executed, while the wife of the Governor Hon. Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom Wike has carried outreach programmes to give succour to the less privileged.
She congratulated IMMOWA on the successful inauguration of the Rivers State Chapter.
In her goodwill message the National President of IMMOWA, Hajiya Gadatu Babandede admonished the Exco to maintain the members oriented policies and ideas, urging them not to rest on the resolve to fulfil the task set before them.
Also speaking the Controller of Immigration Rivers State command Rasheed Segun Adegoke expressed the need for immigration Officer’s Wives to be dedicated to the ideals of the organization, be more alive to their responsibilities as partners in progress, eschew rivalries and discord, noting that they must focus on issues that edify and encourage one another as a team.
