Sports minister approves Ogbemudia Stadium for Edo Sport Festival

The Minister of Youth and sports, Sunday Dare has assured the Edo state Government of plans to stage national and international competitions at the newly renovated Sam Ogbemudia stadium in Benin

The minister described the stadium as fully equipped with modern facilities in line with FiFA and international sports requirements Dare expressed the hope that Edo 2020 will leave up to the objective of national unity and Cohesion which the Games was meant to promote.  Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki, who jointly unveiled the mascot promised that the state will stage one of the best games since its  commencement in 1973.

Obaseki stated that the state was building 20 mini stadia in the local government areas to promote sports development particularly among the youths He also pleaded with the Federal government to hand over the Afuze sports complex to the state govt for renovation to world class standard”

Meanwhile, the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has unveiled the Mascot, five ambassadors and theme song for the 2020 National Sports Festival to be hosted by Edo State.

The governor said the state government would organise a world-class event that will be a reference point for future hosts, noting.
