Prime suspect in connection with murder of Obasanjo Adeola Owoyale charged with manslaughter, robbery

The Prime suspect in connection with the murder of Nigerian student, Obasanjo Adeola Owoyale, 33, was on Thursday re-arraigned before the Nicosia accident court.

The suspect identified as Ehiremen Sunday Osemeahon, was charged with manslaughter and robbery.

Ehiremen Sunday Osemeahon, committed the crime in North Cyprus and fled to Turkey to avoid arrest but was arrested by Turkish Police on Sept. 29 and handed over to North Cyprus police, he confessed to killing Obasanjo Adeola Owoyale and taking certain amount of money.

Arraigning the suspect on Monday, Sept. 30, Police prosecutor told Nicosia accident court Judge Temay Sager that the DNA test found on the items on the crime scene match that of Ehiremen Sunday Osemeahon.

Obasanjo Adeola Owoyale, went missing on July 1, 2019 and was found dead in the trunk of his car wrapped with blanket. The car was parked in the area known as the Nicosia schools road on July 8, 2019.

According to police report, Owoyale, a Cyprus International University PhD student died as a result of “cutting/crushing injuries, multiple fractures of the head bones and brain tissues”.

In an apartment raid by Northern Cyprus police, on July 11, several people were detained in connection with the murder. Statements were taken from 38 people during the three days detention period.

According to Police Inspector Assistant Feyyaz İneci, Owoyale was murdered because of 36 thousand 241 euros which was withdrawn from his account.

Judge Temay Sager evaluating the testimony given in his presence  by Police Inspector Assistant Feyyaz İneci on Thursday, ordered the suspect to be detained for 8 days to enable police carry out more investigation.

Ehiremen’s lawyer did not appeal the request.
